Owners of The Farmhouse

and The Cottage

ABOUT US

Both originally from Jersey, Wally and I headed south to Northern Virginia, where Wally worked as an air traffic controller at Dulles International Airport. Together we ministered as youth pastors and raised our growing family. After a fire destroyed our home in Alexandria, a “never comes available” job became available out of nowhere and we had to make a decision: live 10 miles from Washington D.C. by our church, friends, conveniences, and newly restored home OR move 40 miles out to “no-man’s-land” where we knew no one! We made the decision after much prayer and off to the country we went to look for our new residence.

We looked at nothing less then 100 country properties over a year. Tired and overwhelmed, this was our last farm to consider. Just coming down the hidden hollow lane, without even seeing the original house (the Cottage), we shouted, "This is it!" Pastures, rolling hills, forest, ponds, creek, and barns; every window displayed this glorious creation: we were finally home! We moved West to Warrenton, VA into ‘The Cottage’ in 1986, and used our skills to begin planning our first custom built home, The Farmhouse, on this 20 acre farm paradise. The Farmhouse was completed in 1988 and we’ve been enjoying it ever since.

Hidden Hollow Farm has been a great place to raise our children and today, we raise our nine grandchildren, chickens, and organic vegetables. We also teach homesteading classes like: food/water/fuel storage, gardening, dehydrating food, canning, grinding wheat/baking bread, tinctures and salves, raising chickens, so much more! We enjoy extending our hospitality to folks who visit the area and we know you will be refreshed and restored when you come for a restful stay. A common expression around here is "It's not Heaven, but it's a good place to wait!”
